“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love–I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love–I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love–I gain nothing!”
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Love is a strong word that gets used way to often and hardly ever in the right context. For example I love coffee, no it’s more like I like coffee, not love. I am not in a romantic relationship with my coffee, maybe a little obsessed, but not in love. We use the word love for everything in life that we show interest in.
Other times we probably should use the word “lust”. I lust after that movie star or car. Something we have to have at that very moment, or we think we might implode. Love is deeper than desire or obsession. Click To Tweet
Christ is the perfect example to us of love. He was beaten, betrayed, slandered and persecuted. He patiently endured it all, and never spoke one ill word. He showed love daily to everyone! If we are a true believer one of the fruits of the Spirit is Love, are we exhibiting that in our lives? What do you think of when you hear the word Love? Click To Tweet
